Over-wetting, wrong chemicals, and aggressive scrubbing can cause wicking, fiber distortion, or visible clean spots. Blotting from the outside of a spot inwards prevents spreading. Use thick paper towels or white wash cloths to prevent dye transfer. Controlled moisture and proper blotting matter more than scrubbing power.
